At Vélo, handpicked fruit is nurtured from vine to bottle, producing outstanding, handcrafted wines. Our wines are carefully selected from classic French varieties that particularly suit the Tasmanian climate. Hand picking, hand plunging and gentle basket pressing reflect in the character of our wines. Velo is a combination of their passion for great wine, food and art. The small family operated vineyard is an example of how old and new worlds meld. While retaining traditional methods of harvesting and winemaking, their contemporary image reflects the fun, energy, passion and lifestyle in which they immerse themselves.

Matthew Evans and Chef Poh Ling Yeow discover the Tamar Valley which is renowned for some of Tasmania’s best wine. Whilst visiting the vines at Velo wines, they meet the head chef of Timbre restaurant. It’s here they experience how cooking with fire brings a distinctive quality that makes something different.

For our last meal in Tasmania, this was perfect; the dining area is a delight - with views of the vines and an airy opening. Tables are well spaced, decor is contemporary, the food is excellent and the service is prompt and friendly. Wines of course are excellent.
